First Impressions

Featured

The date was January 27,2007 and it was the day my entire life changed.  I had already been dating your daddy for about a month and it was my first time to meet you.  It was the first time your daddy was ready to bring me into your life. You were 5 years old and in kindergarden at Hutto Elementary.  I will never forget the moment I laid eyes on you.  The first thing I said (as you hid behind your daddy’s legs) was, “he looks exactly like you”.  Then you laid eyes on “Jorge” the hairy pink ball who turned into our very first crazy Cahak family member 🙂

I was working at Dell at the time and it was my once a month Saturday Manager on Duty shift.  I thought Daddy was jut bringing me a Zorba’s lunch, but instead, he brought me the love of my life.  We played for hours and you asked Daddy if I could come home for dinner and a movie that night (thus begins Cahak Family Night Tradition).  When I got to your house, you grabbed my hand. led me to the couch and we watched “Over the Hedge” snuggled up together.  You latched onto me that day and have never let go.  I pray that you never do.

I thank God everyday for you and your unconditional love.  You have changed my life in a way I never knew possible.

I think this is my favorite picture of you ever, in the history of ever.  I love how you are just genuinely happy.  BBQ in your teeth and all.  Ha!  You begged me to delete this photo, but I just cannot and will not.  I will cherish it forever!

Heavenly Father, I thank you for bringing this sweet boy into my life.  Lord, he teaches me so much about Your love and how to love him as I love You.  Help me to be the best step-mom I can be for him.  Give me wisdom and discernment in raising him to know and love You.  Protect our family from harm and any evil.  Fill our lives with your peace and joy.  I also lift up to you Daniel’s future wife.  I pray that she is so in love with you, that she will not even glance at Daniel until he loves you the same.  I pray that she is sweet, kind, funny, smart, and equally yoked to our son.  In Your Son’s Holy Name I pray.  Amen.

Hi bubus – December was such a blur!  All 3 of us were so busy.  You did a fantastic job with your grades, organizational skills and keeping us on track with Christmas decor.  I had so much fun doing our mad search for snoop-a-loop.  Sorry we forgot to get a picture of him this year.  We’ll do a better job with him next year!!  We also ran in the new year like champs!  Trulucks was an awesome experience followed by sparklers / fireworks fun at the Heaths.  As of right now, your beloved Packers are still in the running to get to the super bowl – Go Pack!  It’s also been so much fun watching your creativity come out in your new MS Surface Pro.  From your drawing of bubus to your nightclub rendering with a checkerboard dance floor and pool to your batman wisco as your lock screen / password.  Ha!  You crack me up!

Heavenly Father, please continue to watch over my sugar bear.  Help him to stay focused on academics and tennis and maintaining a positive attitude.  Protect him from any physical or emotional harm.  Help him to look up to you when life gets overwhelming and to look at the other Godly men in his life as the example of how he should handle life and situations.  Help guide him in relationships, especially when the waters get rough.  I also lift up to you his future wife.  I ask that she always looks to seek you and will only consider Godly men seeking you.  Give her an amazing “helper” quality that will only strengthen their devotion to honor You in all they do.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Lord, I thank you for the amazing blessing Daniel is in my life.  This sweet boy has such a big heart and so much talent, I pray that you are keeping watch over him always.  Keep him safe from harm and help him to develop into man who is strong in faith and trust in You and Your plan.  Give us, his parents, opportunities to guide, support, encourage, and coach him and lead him to You.  Lord, I also lift up to you Daniel’s future wife.  I pray that she is buried so deep in You and Your word, that Daniel must first seek You to find her.  Give him wisdom and discernment to know when he finds her and give him strength to be a selfless man and husband and father.  Please help Daniel continue to excel in his academics and athletics.  Please help him to always choose happy and to always glorify You in all that he does.  In Your Son’s Holy Name I pray.  Amen!

Heavenly Father, I am so thankful for the gift of my amazing son.  Lord, this child challenges me to be a parent and a better person everyday.  I ask you to protect my Sugar Bear.  Protect him from any physical harm, protect his eyes from what he sees and his ears from all that he hears, but mostly protect his big and beautiful heart.  I pray that he will  grow to seek you on his own.  To learn to rely on You and Your power and strength and to understand Your purpose and to live to serve your will.  I also pray for his future wife.  Lord, that her heart is so buried in You, that he will first have to seek You to find her.  I pray that she is preparing her heart for the life that You have planned for them.  That she is smart, funny, and strong and pleasing to him.  That she will be his equal yoke.  In Your Son’s Holy Name I pray.  Amen.

You are my lucky charm!

Hi Sugar Bear – Well, Sept 2014 was a fun month.  The house is not yet done, but it’s looking great.  You started up fall tennis, can’t wait to watch you in match this year!  Your grades are rocking n’ rollin’!!!  You even went to your first 8th grade school dance.  It’s so much fun having you in my life.  I love the sweet and smart, funny and kind, silly and soulful young man your growing into.

just dill with it…

It’s the month we look forward to all year, and 2014 did not disappoint. This year’s fun included petting wolves (real and fake ones), bowling strikes without bumpers, you catching your pancake for breakfast, learning to play spoons and you finally hiked Horn Peak.  You made us awesome hoodies and shirts and now you get to make some I hiked Horn Peak shirts too!  Next year will be even better.  What’s the next goal for next year?

what happened to July?

Hi Sugar Bear – wow, as we were busy counting down the days to Horn Creek, we were both on the road much of this month. I hardly got a chance to see you. You were busy visiting with your Mimi and Donna & Ralph. And then you got your Great Wolf Lodge fix.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch…

We started the home renovations (I can’t wait to post the after pics!) and luckily, we had some muscle to help us move the furniture around!  Daddy and I love this picture of you and we love your sense of humor so much.  It’s like we have our own in-house Will Ferrell to keep us laughing.

The cabinets are a slow start, but will look fabulous when we’re done!

We will roll out to Horn Creek on 8/1 and we’ve got our shirts and hoodies that you designed packed and ready to go!!!  The August update will be awesome.  Cahaks 1, 2 & 3 will have a blast in Colorado!!!

Hi bubus – just a few memories from our fun June 2014

images-2

Rod Kimble: All great men have mustaches!

Frank Powell: Yeah, but real men actually grow them!

Rod Kimble: You know I have a hormone disorder!

Rod Kimble: Hey, everybody! I got some awesome news. We have a new crew member today, Denise. So I thought it would be fun if we all went around and said our name and a little something about ourselves. I’ll start. My name is Rod, and I like to party.images-3

Rod Kimble: I needed to think about last night. So I galloped into a wooded glen, and after punch-dancing out my rage and suffering an extremely long and very painful fall, I realized what has to be done.

All things Dophus

Wow, where to begin…My dophie girl sure was an amazing pup.  I loved her from the moment I first laid eyes on her.  She was one of 11 pups and I knew the moment I locked eyes with her, she would always be my girl.  I will never forget when she had a huge puppy belly, was too small to climb the stairs and cried all night for months as I tried to crate train her.  In typical Sophie fashion, she strong armed and strong willed her way into winning every battle she fought, and she soon found her way onto my bed. Oh, how I loved her puppy breath, I can still remember exactly what smelled like and it still makes me squeal with delight today!!  She then quickly grew into an awesome beast who was so smart and so strong and never wanted to stop retrieving or swimming or retrieving in the water, whut-whut?!?!?  My sweet girl and I took so many road trips together.  I remember the first time she jumped into the ocean and the waves, just kept coming, she was in heaven.  Then, the first time she got to run around on fresh snow powder, oh man, who would have thought that could get any better?  She used to gorge herself on June bugs and prided herself in her ability to destroy any mud puddle that dared to cross her path!  My girl loved to check her “pee-mail” and would always indulge me in stopping to take pictures and show me her “pretty ears”.  Once you boys came into our lives, we had a magic bowl and combat dophus and the best little family in the whole wide world.

Combat Dophus will live in my heart forevermore!
